all good characteristics

Ameer al-Momineen (a.s) said: “All good characteristics are in three acts: looking, silence and talking. Any looking that is without learning is a waste of time. Any silence that is without pondering is due to ignorance. And any talking that is not accompanied by remembrance of God is vain talk. Then blessed be those who learn when they look; think when they are silent; remember Allah when they talk; are sorry for their wrong-doings; and the people are safe from their mischief.” (Mishkat al-Anwar, ch. 15, #266)

Ar Rahman

And the servants of The Most Gracious (Ar Rahman) are those who walk on the earth in quietness*, and when the ignorant address them, they say, “Peace!” (Qur’an 25:63)

WaAAibadu alrrahmani allatheena yamshoona AAala alardi hawnan waitha khatabahumu aljahiloona qaloo salaman

* The word hawnan is usually translated as “modest” “humble” or “gentle” – the root *HWN also has a suggested translation of quietness (concordance, Kassis, 1983). I find that it is this quality of quietness, when cultivated, is what would allow a person to respond with a salam, when the extremely ignorant (aljahiloon) are talking.

inside all hidden things

Praise be to Allah Who lies inside all hidden things, and towards Whom all manifested things guide. He cannot be seen by the eye of an onlooker, but the eye which does not see Him cannot deny Him, while the mind that proves His existence cannot perceive Him. (Imam Ali – Nahj-ul-Balaga sermon 48)

Whenever Allah wishes someone good

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said: “Whenever Allah the Almighty wishes someone good, He will make him unattached to this world, and knowledgeable about the religion, and able to see his own faults. Whoever is granted these things, is granted the good of this world and the Hereafter.” (attributed in Mishkat al-Anwar of Hassan ibn Fazl ibn Hassan Tabarsi h. #565)

Sadiqoon

Rasul Allah (peace and blessings upon him and his Family): ?If you are truthful (sadiqoon) do not build what you shall not reside in; do not collect what you shall not eat; and fear (taqwa) Allah to Whom you shall return.? (narrated by Imam Baqir (AS) in Mishkat al-Anwar of Hassan ibn Fazl ibn Hassan Tabarsi ch. 3, #53)

If they see a momin

If they see a momin, they will respect him. If they see a kafir, they will abandon him. If a person in need comes to see them, they will have mercy upon him and help him by using their own property. (Imam Jafer Sadeq (AS) Mishkat al-Anwar of Hassan ibn Fazl ibn Hassan Tabarsi, ch. 2, h. #297)

ya dunya

Rasul Allah (may Allah give him and his Family blessings and peace) said:

“Allah, ever mighty and majestic is He, says to the world (dunya): “O world, serve the one who serves Me, and wear out the one who serves you.” (Mishkat Al-Anwar of Ibn ‘Arabi, part 3, #13, h. 93)
