fantasies of the master race
Literature, cinema, and the colonization of American Indians.

Literature about Indians was first written and published in order to provoke and sanctify warfare against them. Later, the focus changed to enlisting public support for “civilizing the savages,” stripping them of their culture and assimilating them into the dominant society. Now, in the final stages of cultural genocide, it is appropriation and stereotyping of native culture that establishes control over knowledge and truth.”

A real and horrible chapter of American history that is not taught in school. And the genocide continues in the gulags that are the reservations, from Canada to Mexico.

Salaam,
lets try a little experiment….what if:
“During each phase of the genocide of MUSLIMS, the media has played a critical role in creating easily digestible stereotypes of MUSLIMS for popular consumption. Literature about Muslims was first written and published in order to provoke and sanctify warfare against them. Later, the focus changed to enlisting public support for ‚Äúcivilizing the savages,‚Äù stripping them of their culture and assimilating them into the dominant society. THEN/NOW, in the final stages of cultural genocide, it IS/WILL BE appropriation and stereotyping of MUSLIM culture that establishes control over knowledge and truth.‚Äù
does that resonate?
thanks for sharing this…

This is a horrible part of American history that continues till this day but on a different level. As Irving said, it is not taught in schools.

It’s important to remember the fate of the Native Armenians.
