Lake Merrit, Oakland, California

This photograph, and the two below are of Lake Merrit, Oakland, California. Oakland has a very rich history, The Black Panther were founded here, and, this city is an important cultural center for African Americans in Northern California. The area is also home to thousands of refugees, and immigrants from Central America, East Asia, and Mexico.

Lake Merrit, is part of the San Francisco bay, and was made by first building a dam, and then land filling parts of what is now downtown Oakland.

A beautiful short video on how two wild horses appear, as two ancient oak trees are prepared to be chainsawed down.
